Sources say that the Samsung Galaxy Note just wasn’t up to the job
Nowadays phones really are the Swiss Army knives of gadgets, and that’s exactly why they also make an invaluable tool for soldiers. Now, a new report claims that the US Army is changing the smartphones its soldiers will carry, making the switch from Android to iPhone.
According to Military.com, the United States Army’s Special Operations Command is ready to ditch its “Android Tactical Assault Kit”, which was essentially a glorified Samsung Galaxy Note, and replace it with a brand-new iPhone 6s.
And no, the switch hasn’t happened because the iPhone 6s has a nice Rose Gold finish. Instead it appears iPhone 6s was better equipped to deal with some of the military’s custom software. According to a Military.com source, the Android would freeze up when running some of the Army’s custom apps, while the iPhone 6s was deemed to be “faster and smoother”.
The source went on to say the Android’s problems could waste valuable minutes, while the process was described as “seamless” on the iPhone.
