Aragami is a third-person stealth game which was previously a PlayStation 4 console exclusive. Recently, developer Lince Works revealed that Aragami: Shadow Edition was headed to Xbox One. The package comes bundled with the upcoming “Nightfall” story expansion and all released add-ons to date.
Aragami puts you in the shoes of an undead assassin with the power to control shadows. By manipulating the darkness, players can teleport, create new paths, materialize weapons, and even summon shadow beasts to kill enemies.
According the developer, Aragami is heavily inspired by old-school stealth games like Metal Gear Solid and Tenchu, or more recent ones like Dishonored and Mark of the Ninja. Gameplay places an emphasis on bringing back the challenge to the genre.
Aragami is built around two different playstyles which players can swap at any time without penalty. You can either use your powers to play as a “Ghost” or become a “Demon”. As expected, the Ghost persona requires complete stealth and the Demon one lets you kill everyone in your path.
David Leon, Aragami’s Lead Designer, issued the following statement alongside the announcement of an Xbox One version.
We are huge fans of stealth games, but we feel that in the last few years ‘stealth’ in games has been diluted and doesn’t pose the same challenge. We wanted to fix that with Aragami, where you are outmatched, outnumbered, and alone.
Aragami Shadow Edition should launch simultaneously alongside the release of the expansion in the next few months for $24.99.
